As part of a team extension model, the UK and Ulster Retail Risk team supports global teams with the design of credit lending strategies for customer acquisition or management, as well as stress- testing and forecasting of debt flows. The team also analyses the strategies impacting retail portfolio good book and bad book, and regulatory reporting support. The Restructuring and Provisioning sub-team are responsible for the calculation and review of provision and impairments for the PBB portfolio (including RBS Invoice Finance and Lombard), as well as quarterly sector MI packs for insights on restructuring balance sheet, impairment charge and stock.

"When I joined RBS, I was new to both the domain and the technology, but in this short stint, I’ve managed to acquire all the necessary skills to excel at my job.

As an analyst, I’ve been given several opportunities to optimize our processes and drive them innovatively. For instance, I’d worked on the optimization of the complex and much discussed portfolio MI pack, which has hundreds of pivot tables and would take 18 hours to create. After optimization, it now takes just three hours, and without any manual intervention. Currently, I’m working on a project called ‘SPOO Dashboard’ which is created to help senior management teams make business decisions. Knowledge sharing sessions in our teams helped me understand the ‘big-picture’ and see a holistic perspective of our processes. I have upgraded my technical skills (SAS, SQL) while giving VBA training to new joiners in the Ulster Risk team. I also created a new report on credit cards, which has given me a detailed exposure to different cards in the UK.

I’m a self-proclaimed ‘gymaholic’, an avid reader, and when I get a chance, I like to display my acting skills.
