Meet Nidhi Tuli

"I joined RBS a year ago as an Analyst in the Market Risk and Portfolio team. During this time, the depth and breadth of exposure to the various aspects of market risk I’ve received and the steep learning curve has helped me grow into a thorough risk professional.

Initially, I worked on analyzing the movement in portfolio risks, and learned about the various types of risks and how they contribute to the bank’s overall risk. I’ve also assisted in driving the enhancement of the bank’s FDSF regulatory reporting capability, and updating the stress-testing process flow, to build a more robust process. Currently, I am working on delivering integrated and regulatory stress testing results, which is a key internal metric for deciding on an appropriate level of capital. Among my regular responsibilities, I help the senior risk managers with the analysis of stress results. In all my roles, I’ve gained tremendous experience, building expertise in calculating the various risk metrics across different asset classes, as well as understanding the governance around processes and documentation for stress-testing. Through all my projects, I’ve found a lot of support and transparency at all stages, whether I'm defining the process flow, understanding the problem or analyzing the results. This is true for our local as well as London teams.

I find RBS gives individuals ample opportunities to learn and grow professionally. I’ve learnt the basics of technical tools such as Venture (risk calculation) and Forest (stress-testing) and the automation of controls for a key Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) submission.

The culture at RBS encourages individuals to give their best, whether they are physically at work or need to be away. For instance, ‘RBS Anywhere’ allows me to work from home. Beyond this, I’ve managed to get the most out of the flexibility policy to find time to involve myself in other meaningful activities, such as our community investment program (DISHA), our employee engagement club (Funchayat), and our Focused Women’s Network. I think of myself as a nomad at heart, who loves to explore new places in and around the city, and my role at RBS has allowed me to explore this side of life as well."
